LG’s latest trio of G Pad tablets available for purchase soon

LG G Pad
The three new midrange LG G Pad tablets will start rolling out in a handful of European markets over the course of this month according to the company. The pricing of the three tablets hasn’t been specified yet, but expect it to come under the budget segment.
The hardware is fairly midrange as expected and do not compare with the LG G Pad 8.3 which boasted of a relatively top end hardware. The new G Pad series is available in 7, 8 and 10.1 inch configurations, all with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The three tablets also come with a quad core 1.2 GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The G Pad 7.0 packs a 3-megapixel rear camera while the 8 and 10.1 inch models sport 5-megapixel sensors.
There’s no cellular connectivity on board, so all tablets are reliant on WiFi. As far as the pricing is concerned, we don’t expect it to surpass the $400 barrier especially for the 10.1 inch variant considering its hardware credentials.
The G Pad 7.0 will be the first to arrive in the scene later this week while the G Pad 8.0 and 10.1 will follow subsequently. The midrange tablet segment is dominated by a plethora of manufacturers including Samsung, ASUS and the likes, so LG will have to manoeuvre its pricing so as to attract more customers towards its offering.

Samsung Galaxy F snapped beside the Galaxy S5 in latest leaked image

Samsung-Galaxy-F-Prime
Still not tired of all those leaked images of the Galaxy F? Well, today the guys over at PhoneArena have received another image of the handset in which it is compared side-by-side to Korean company’s current flagship — the Galaxy S5.
It is quite clear from the image that Samsung has considerably reduced the bezels on the Galaxy F (a.k.a the Galaxy S5 Prime) compared to the S5, which gives it a very sleek and modern look.
Previous leaked images have already shown the Galaxy F in all its glory including its back, which is made of metal or has a metallic finish to it. The leaked images do not confirm whether the Galaxy F will sport an IP certification like the S5 or not. The flap on the microUSB port at the bottom visible in most of the images, however, do suggest that the handset will be water and dust resistant to a certain extent.
The Galaxy F is rumored to sport a 5.3-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 16MP shooter with OIS. The handset is expected to be unveiled by Samsung at IFA in September this year.

Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra speaks about the company’s American and global ambitions

Hugo Barra
The global VP of Xiaomi, Hugo Barra has mentioned that the company will not enter the North American markets until 2015. The reason behind this is the busy schedule the company has with plans to break into 10 new markets simultaneously this year. He gave out the info while speaking at the Indonesian Cellular Show.
Xiaomi’s resurgence in the market has been widely acclaimed and it’s only logical for the company to expand into markets like North America and Europe where value for money devices have historically sold well. It seems like some regions in Europe might get Xiaomi devices this year in addition to China’s neighboring markets of course.
Whether the company will be successful in its global endeavors is only for time to tell. But Xiaomi’s workforce certainly has the capability to conquer even the biggest markets of Asia if it can manage to keep up with the demand.
The company is known for devices like the recently launched the MiPad 7.9 and the budget RedMi Note phablet, which is almost too identical to the iPad Mini with the words “Retina” being floated around in the product page as well. It is also involved in the TV business with the recently launched 49 inch 4K TV carrying an unbelievable price tag of $640.

First RC build of Paranoid Android based on Android 4.4.3 released

paranoid_android
Just over a week after Google released the Android 4.4.3 update, the Paranoid Android team has released a new build of their ROM based on the latest version of KitKat. Besides this seemingly minor jump in Android version, the latest build contains the first stable version of Hover as well as the new Theme engine introduced by the CyanogenMod team.
There are minor changes to Hover behavior in this build, which is mainly based on the feedback that the PA team received from the community. This includes Hover not opening the current app in foreground in floating window mode, if the user receives any notification from the same app.
This is also the first release candidate of PA’s ROM since Google released KitKat last year. This means that users should expect less bugs and stability issues in this build.
Before you head over to download the latest build, make sure to update the bootloader, radio, Google apps and recovery of your Nexus device to the ones that Google has included with the Android 4.4.3 update. Otherwise, the PA build might fail to install or you might face some stability issues.

Sony Xperia Z2 is the official phone of the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Xperia Z2
In what appears to be a major marketing investment, Sony has just struck a deal with FIFA to make its latest smartphone, the Xperia Z2 the official smartphone of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The World Cup is set to kick off tomorrow in São Paulo, so this is just the marketing boost Sony could have asked for ahead of the biggest sporting spectacle in the world.
This obviously means some new contests and offers for the fans as well. One of them is the Sony Football Challenge where users have to correctly guess the final scoreline of all 64 games played during the event. Winners will get an Xperia Z2, an Xperia Z2 Tablet, a PlayStation 4 and the grand prize of a VIP trip to Morocco sponsored by the company.
So with the football fever soaring high among fans, there’s a chance to make more of it with some luck and football knowledge. It’s not uncommon for major companies to tie-up with sporting events as the exposure is pretty high, and with this new association, Sony can hope to attract the global audience on a wider scale. HTC was announced the sponsor of the UEFA Champion’s League not too long ago, so the association of football with mobile companies is not new.
