Kanye West’s Album, ‘The Life of Pablo’, is Now Available on Apple Music

Kanye West The Life of Pablo

Never is a strong word, but apparently not strong enough to actually
ring true when it comes to Kanye West and his newest album, “The Life of
Pablo.”
Back in February, West released his
latest album through the streaming music service, Tidal, of which he’s a
major partner and public-facing figure. While Tidal was able to rocket
up the App Store charts following the album’s release, it looks like
West has “seen the light,” and decided that allowing even more people to
listen to the album, and even buy it, is a good thing.

And sure enough, “The Life of Pablo” is now available
through Apple Music, Spotify, and Google Play Music. What’s more, if you
want to buy it, that’s now a possibility, too. The trick is you’ll have
to head over to West’s official site to do that, because it’s not
available for purchase through iTunes or other digital storefronts just
yet. No, there isn’t any indication that West plans on adding the album
to other storefronts to buy, but considering how this all went down, it
doesn’t seem like it’s an impossibility, either.
The fact that “The Life of Pablo” is now available to buy, and
through Apple Music, means that West completely reversed his position on
this. Back in February, when the album dropped, West tweeted
out that the album would “never never never be on Apple Music,” adding
that it would “never be for sale,” too, just for good measure.
Basically, West was drumming up support for Tidal — at least trying to,
anyway. That started to change when, recently, West released a single track from the album on Apple Music, signaling this eventual outcome.

CarPlay projected to be in more than 24 million vehicles by 2019, new report claims

CarPlay 2015 Hyundai Sonata
Launched earlier in 2014, Apple’s CarPlay has already seen a big adoption rate from auto manufacturers, with the list of partners still growing. That support will lead Apple into an almost ridiculous amount of vehicles by 2019, a new report suggests.

Based on a report from ABI Research, which was released on July 9, Apple’s CarPlay will be heavily adopted throughout the years to come, thanks in big part to the company’s mobile device, the iPhone. With the popularity of the company’s smartphone, auto manufacturers see the logic of adding CarPlay to their preinstalled infotainment centers because of the “walled garden” presented by Apple. The report points out that the closed ecosystem brought to the table by Apple could mean that they are forced to incorporate other researches, like Google’s Android Auto — of which some auto manufacturers are already planning to do.
However, that closed ecosystem is poised to work in favor for Apple, because of the popularity of the iPhone. With so many (millions of) people buying the iPhone, and so many more expected to pick up the iPhone 6 later this year, manufacturers would be missing on that compatibility with their cars and customer’s smartphones. The result? ABI Research posits that Apple could see CarPlay installed in more than 24 million calls by 2019.
From the report:

Many believe Apple is creating further fragmentations and a ripple effect in the industry by not being open. However, love it or hate it, with Apple on the scene it certainly draws greater attention to in-car apps and now with the Android Auto standard on the scene both will certainly drive adoption of in-car apps.

Do you like the idea of CarPlay?

TSMC began shipping processors to Apple in Q2, 2014, according to new report

TSMC logo
For quite some time, Samsung played a big role for Apple in bringing key components to market for the Cupertino-based company’s flagship devices. Last year, that changed with a deal with chip manufacturing company TSMC.

Last year, a report broke that Apple had signed a deal with chip manufacturing company TSMC, and therefore split ties in a big way with Samsung. The move was seen as an inevitable one, considering the role that Samsung has played in the mobile market over the last few years, moving into a position as a key competitor to Apple’s smartphone race. In March, 2014, it was reported that TSMC had begun production of Apple’s upcoming A8 processor, which would reportedly see the light of day (so to speak) in the unannounced iPhone 6 later in the year.
Now, it would seem that is all but confirmed, as The Wall Street Journal has released a new report, suggesting that TSMC began shipping processors to Apple in the second quarter of 2014. For TSMC, this is a big win, as it means that more money for the company, as they’ve secured the hardware orders from Apple for, reportedly, the foreseeable future. For Apple, it is considered a win as it means no more reliance on only Samsung for key internal pieces to iOS-based devices.
In 2015, it’s believed that Apple will turn to Samsung for the A9 processor, which could use a 14nm design.
Do you think it’s a good idea for Apple to break their sole reliance on Samsung for iOS-based device internal components?

iPhone 6 display survives another torture test, until a car shows up

iPhone 6 display hammer test
The front panel for the iPhone 6 has been one of the most oft-leaked parts of the still unannounced device, and today we get another video that supposedly puts the upcoming device’s screen under the ultimate torture test.

At the beginning of July, we’ve already seen two different videos supposedly showcasing what is to be believed as the iPhone 6′s front panel, including the 4.7-inch display and its sapphire glass construction. In the videos, we’ve seen just how bendable the screen is, and what kind of items you can scratch against it without seeing any ramifications on the display itself. In this new video, though, the torture test gets taken to some extremes with a white version of the front panel.
The video is in Chinese, but you won’t have an issue understanding what’s going on here if you don’t understand the language. We get to see the rumored iPhone 6 display fall under the pointed tips of not only keys and coins, or even box cutters or just nails, but also get to see how the display holds up when someone hammers nails against it. Surprisingly, the rumored sapphire glass holds up quite well.
However, it doesn’t last long when a car gets tossed into the mix. When run over with a car tire, the sapphire glass shatters. So, if we’re taking these videos for what they are, your iPhone 6 should be okay if you take it to a construction site, even if you drop it, but don’t ever run it over with a car. Of course, things could change when the display is actually attached to a final device, but for now it’s fun to see what kind of harassment the display can take. Even if we still don’t know for sure whether or not it’s really sapphire glass or not.
Apple supposedly has enough sapphire glass, thanks to an uptick in construction, to supply both the 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhone 6, but there has been some speculation that the new devices may not boast the new display. You can check out the full video below.

iPhone 6 orders are ‘unprecedented’, according to new report, twice as large as iPhone 5 orders

iPhone 6 concept render
There shouldn’t be any doubt that the iPhone 6 is a highly anticipated device, but if there was, perhaps a new report citing supply chain resources will put those doubts to bed.

A new report from GforGames, via Taiwan’s Business Weekly, claims that Apple has ordered an “unprecedented” amount of iPhone 6′s in anticipation of its expected launch later this year. According to the unnamed sources, that unprecedented number means that the iPhone 6 orders have reportedly doubled the number of orders that Apple placed for the iPhone 5, another benchmark device for the company.
According to Business Weekl, the first iPhone 6 order could be for 68 million units. To make it possible to reach that goal, the report confirms earlier rumors that the iPhone 6 will indeed go into production in July, with both Foxconn’s chairman Terry Gou and Pegatron’s chairman Tung Tsu-hsien, being notified of the start date since the beginning of June.
The report doesn’t actually verify whether or not these orders are for just the 4.7-inch iPhone, or if it includes the rumored 5.5-inch model as well. It would not be much of a surprise if it includes both devices, but if Apple is expecting such a large demand for one of these models, it certainly would be an unprecedented move. With a launch date expected for September, and with new rumored feature like dynamic haptic feedback, the iPhone 6 is looking more and more like it could very well be a top seller for Apple in 2014 — and well into 2015.
Do you think Apple will match demand for the new iPhone?

iPhone 6 tipped to feature dynamic haptic feedback, could deliver more subtle vibrations

iPhone 6 concept render
For some, the only notification they need is a strong vibration from their mobile device. If a new report pans out, Apple could release the iPhone 6 with a new, dynamic haptic feedback that changes the way we feel vibrations in our phones.

Back in March, 2012, we saw a patent filing from Apple that detailed their idea of haptic touch technology for their mobile devices, including new iPhones and iPads they planned on releasing at some point in the future. While many believed we could have seen the technology back then, or even a year later, it was always more of a possibility we’d be seeing it around now, or even later. If a new report from Laoyaoba is true, then the iPhone 6 will host a new tactile linear feedback motor, bringing those haptic feedback dreams to reality.
With the new motor, which the original source cites unnamed sources, the iPhone 6 could provide specific vibrations for certain application scenarios, or even depending on where the user touches the screen. The report also claims that the new motor will cost two or three times more than the current vibration motor that’s found in the iPhone 5s. For reference, the current motor reportedly costs $0.60.
The iPhone 6 is still rumored to be announced, and launched, in September. Until then, we’ve been inundated with new leaks and rumors, all of which have pointed to a pair of devices with different display sizes: 4.7- and 5.5-inches.
